KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has restrained the police from arresting Tabish Gohar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Karachi Electric Company Supply (KESC), till December 3.

The warrant for Gohar’s arrest was issued by the Senate’s Standing Committee on Water and Power over his alleged failure to appear during a session. Gohar went to court for bail after the warrant was issued.

The standing committee was irked when Gohar failed to appear to discuss the agreement between KESC and the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) on November 8.

The committee wanted to discuss how much power KESC could generate and its cost per unit and how much power it was receiving from Wapda.

On Gohar’s failure to appear, the committee requested the interior ministry and Sindh chief secretary to ensure his presence during the December 3 meeting.

On the one hand hand you are trying to attract foreign investment and on the other, you are scaring away foreign investors by such strong arm tactics. Why can't our lawmakers act in a sensible and rational manner ? National interest is far more important the the egos of a bunch of individuals.
