Health: Hospitals must submit fortnightly rodent-free certificates

Rafique said Health Department would not allow a repeat of the incident at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

A comprehensive programme has been chalked out to rid all government hospitals of rodents, bugs, cats and stray dogs, the Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique said on Wednesday.

The Health Department has issued instructions to all the government medical college principals, hospital medical superintendents and EDOs (Health).

Rafique said each has been instructed to submit a compliance certificate showing the implementation of approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) within three days.

Rafique said they would not allow a repeat of the incident at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi. He said the chief minister had taken notice of the said incident. He said senior doctors and other staff accused of negligence had been suspended. He said all hospitals must undertake  a rodent control drive twice a month. He said a designated officer will submit a certificate of being rodent-free for each hospital on a fortnightly basis.
