Sindh Police have decided to link the Protection of Witnesses System to the investigation department so that witnesses could feel secure and extend cooperation to the police.
This decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Sindh Inspector General of Police Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari on Tuesday.
Leghari formed a committee of Special Branch additional inspector generals and the Crime Investigation Department to take measures for the protection of witnesses in high profile cases.
He also directed them to make sure the families of witnesses are also protected. The security arrangements at the residence of witnesses should continue till the cases are finalised or otherwise alternate accommodation should be provided to them.
