Ashura Processions: Rescue 1122 provides first aid for 19,279

The Rescue1122 provided first aid to 19,279 mourners and shifted 253 to hospitals on Muharram 9 and 10 in Punjab, the Emergency Services Academy administrator said in a briefing to Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer.

He said emergency medical cover was provided to at least 634 mourning processions in Punjab. As many as 6,918 Rescue 1122 workers and volunteers performed duties in the processions.


Separately, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal, in a statement, said that Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, town administration and CDGL officials and the Shia community played a vital role in the security and other arrangements of Ashura processions.

Mengal himself visited the Shia central route, temporary hospitals and Karbla Gamay Shah. MNA Pervaiz Malik and MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir were with him. He also had an aerial view of the Zuljinah route from a helicopter.

Later, Commissioner Jawad Rafique Malik paid a surprise visit to Karbla Gamay Shah.
