SANGHAR:
In what can be termed a medical mystery, four infants died from acute fever on Saturday in Din Mohammad Rajar village in Khipro taluka, Sindh, just days after they were vaccinated.

More than 20 other children are still suffering from a fever. According to details, a team administrated vaccinations among 386 children of 22 villages in the area a few days ago. Villagers told daily Sindh Express that the children suffered from acute fever before they died, and blamed the vaccinations for the sickness. The children who passed away were 10-day-old Samo, son of Ali Bux Rajar, five-month-old Ilyas, son of Latif Machhi, four-month-old Eid, daughter of Laiq Bheel and five-month-old Aleem, son of Ismail Machhi. The health officer in the area, Dr Girdari, confirmed all four deaths, but could not say for certain whether it was the vaccination that caused the illness. A medical team also visited the village and confirmed the deaths but was stumped as to why the children had fallen sick in first place. Dr Girdari said that thorough investigations would be carried out and a report would be compiled. Published in The Express Tribune, November 25th, 2012.
