Targeted attack: Assailants attack police vehicle

Unidentified attackers armed with AK-47 rifles.

PESHAWAR: Mathra police repulsed an attack at one of its vehicles in the suburban Panam Dheri area near the border of Khyber Agency on Saturday, forcing the attackers to flee. The unidentified attackers were armed with AK-47 rifles. A Mathra police official told The Express Tribune that there were no causalities and the attackers escaped after a gunfight. “We are searching for them but there is complete darkness out there and it is very difficult to find them in a deserted place,” the official said.
