Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has started presiding over meetings to look over committee reports on proposed candidates for the general election, party officials told The Express Tribune.
Party officials say Sharif has also started to address differences among applicants.
The PML-N is hoping to win 11 National Assembly seats in Faisalabad and three in Toba Tek Singh. Out of the four seats for the National Assembly in Vehari, the party has so far picked candidates for three. The PML-N is also considering candidates from the Bahawalngar district, they said.
According to PML-N’s media cell, Sharif presided over meetings regarding three districts on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he met with candidates from Bahawalnagar.
According to a PML-N official, the committees have proposed Nazeer Arain from NA 167, Pir Mohyuddin Chishti and Shani Dogar from PP 232 and PP 233 respectively. Tehmina Daultana from NA 169 and Mian Saqib and Naeem Bhabha from PP 236 and PP 237 respectively. Saeed Minhas’s name was proposed for NA 170 while a decision about NA 168 is pending.
On Wednesday, many candidates and applicants from Bahawalnagar district met with Sharif. According to party officials, three candidates have been proposed for NA 189, Alam Dad Lalika, Dr Akhtar Lalika and Mian Mumtaz Matiana. Two candidates have been proposed for NA 190. They are Chaudhry Ehsanul Haq Bajwa and Tahir Sarwar Cheema. Ejazul Haq has been proposed for NA 191. PML-Q MNA Khadim Hussain Wattoo may be awarded the ticket for NA 188.
Sharif settled the differences between Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and MNA Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali. In Vehari, differences between Tehmeena Daultana and MPA Naeem Bhabha were addressed. In Toba Tek Singh, issues between Senator M Hamza and the Warraich family were discussed.
PML-N Lahore President MNA Mohammad Pervaiz Malik said that he had been asked to propose candidates for Lahore and Islamabad districts. He said he had submitted his initial report.

Mian Nawaz Sharif is one of the leader who always contributed in chaos and pandemonium when he was at opposition benches. As a result of his dirty politics he was thrown out by Mushharaf but he did not learn lesson. I strongly believe that democratic party can not create hurdles in the way of democracy but the recent speeches Mian Nawaz Sharif clearly shows that this bona partist party wants to return in politics of 90s. The politics of reconcilation does not suit them. Nawaz was and will remain a dictator under the skin of democracy ).........Sheer Ki Khaal Pehaan Lenay Say Geedar Sheer Nahee Ho Jata Hay. Mian Sahib must be wise for this time his Saud Masters have also drawn their helping hand. This time no would be their to offer him political assylum. He must play his role in nation building by joinging hands with incumbent democratic government.
Heartburns PTI hawks (?) get a life !!
@Imran Mosa...
Bhai, IK has open challenge to Nawaz Sharif to debate live on policy on forum. Mian Sahib has been running scared since that day. Please face facts :)
Also, PTI are doing coutry wide elections to choose thier candiates, not drawing room type selections where Mian Sahib will just choose the candidates that praise him the most. Again, please face facts, it will be good for you :)
well im not a supporter of any political party but mosa bhai is equally right saying see all with equal sight we also see at news that IK and other political parties heads are also selecting there candidates by sitting in a drawing room with a heavy joy of a cup of special tea not only nazaw shariff is doing so.
@Kamran Naqvi
I thought the same thing too some 15 years ago when I voted for Nawaz and company, that they will not mess up the institutions and will bring back Pakistan to the path of success. Instead they brought down every institution to the ground, most prominently Supreme court and Judiciary when they attacked it in broad daylight. Then they messed with the Army by appointing their own COAS on the recommendation of Ch. Nisar who was a much junior officer . And finally instead of taming the establishment, they ran away to Jeddah and landed straight in the Saroor palace leaving their supporters and companions like Javed Hashmi to rot in Adiala Jail. I bet, when the times comes, they will again run away to either Turkey, Jeddah or London.
Inshallah, this election will see the demise of looters like shareef brothers and zardaris. No difference between zardaris and shareefs, two sides of the same coin. They are all dishonest persons and corrupt politicians.
@Kamran
Bhai, will they also build more motorways? I like motorways...more motorways will solve all our problems.
I'm afraid that is Mian sahib starts "weighing" candidates, he is not going to find very many that "weigh" the same as him.
PML-N will clean sweep the elections InshaAllah, tame the unbridled establishment and bring back Pakistan to the path of peace & prosperity.
Some Media Channel should start Election Debates like it is in US before the elections, Intense Debates will crack open these empty-head politicians who can only cry for some Murdered (Shaheed) or some motorway they built 20 yrs ago...
I wanna see all PM Candidates in Debates to show us:
What are their Educational qualifications? What are their Management Skills? What was their last 3 Positions and what did they achieve in those roles? Why should we choose them as a Prime Minister? What vision they have, what plans they have? How they'll execute those plans? How much time they'll take to deliver their plans (by Yearly breakdowns)If these things are necessary to be a Top Manager of any firm with as little as 100 to 200 employees then why not we should ask these questions to a person who wants to manage a whole Country - The Ultimate Macro-Scenario.
Any Comments?
Always acting like a King and driving his party and his country like his personal property. You can well imagine exactly how democratic a party can be by just looking at the name PML(NAWAZ). I think they should add Limited with it too.
@Haroon, well do you expect NS to go out in this heat and pollution (?) once he can do whatever is required while sitting in his drawing room? Good Luck....!
@King of Darkness: Yeah PML-N workers have as much say in candidate nomination as the people of North Korea have in electing their 'Great Leader'
One question.....is nawaz Sharif going to stand against imran khan? Don't think so...because he doesnth even seem to have the courage to face IK in a debate....
Does PMLn Workers have any say in nomination of candidates?? :O
