RAWALPINDI:

Two persons including a senior citizen were murdered in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

Ratta Amral police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shabbir Hussain said that a shopkeeper in Hazara Colony shot 30-year-old Shahid Ameen dead over an issue pertaining to cellphone balance and fled from the scene.

The police officer said that Ameen bought a mobile SIM card from Hussain, who runs a general store along with a prepaid cell phone recharging business in Hazara Colony. Most cellular service providers give a token amount of prepaid balance on every new SIM card, but there was none on the SIM when Ameen bought it. He returned to the shop and began arguing over the issue. In the middle of the argument, Hussain pulled out a 30-bore pistol and shot Shahid, killing him on the spot.

“He was shot once in the chest and died instantly,” ASI Hussain added.

After committing the crime, the killer managed to flee from the scene, the ASI said, adding that the police moved the body to District Headquarter Hospital for autopsy. A murder case has been registered and investigations are underway.

In another incident, an old man was allegedly strangulated by a masseuse in Dhoke Kamaldin in the Airport area.

The police registered a case against the unidentified masseuse and started investigations.

Saeed Bhatti, son of the deceased, filed a complaint with the police stating that his father, Muhammad Razzaq, 60, ran a general store in Shah Khalid Colony. Last night, his younger brother, Riasat, had seen their father entering in the home with a masseuse. Bhatti said that in the morning, when his mother went to his father’s room to serve him breakfast, she found her husband dead with bruising on his neck.

He alleged that the masseuse had strangulated his father and escaped with a motorcycle, pistol and property documents.
