The Defence and Interior Ministries have approved the deployment of 69 army companies and 35 Rangers companies, said an official. He said that the deployment had been requested particularly for the 7th to the 11th of Muharram.
They will not be deployed in Okara, Sahiwal, Narowal, Gujrat, Khushab, Hafizabad, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar or Mandi Bahuddin, as there is unlikely to be sectarian strife in these districts, said the official.
