A consumer court has set November 26 for preliminary arguments on a suit seeking damages of Rs1 million from Benazir Kulfa for allegedly causing mass diarrhoea among the guests at a wedding.
Petitioner Ijaz Akram submitted that he had ordered 60 kilograms of kulfa for his younger brother’s wedding on October 15, paying Rs15,000 in advance. He said that the kulfa was delivered two hours late, tasted and smelt bad and caused stomach problems among several guests. He said the incident was a massive embarrassment for his family.
The petitioner asked the court to direct Muhammad Ayub and Muhammad Qayyum, the proprietors of Benazir Kulfa, to pay Rs1 million in damages.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Muhammad Ayub said that the kulfa was delivered on time and there was nothing wrong with it.

GOOD!!!
Such a fine example of somebody fighting for his/her rights as consumer. Whether or not the Kulfa company is guilty, such an attitude means that consumers are aware of their rights.. We badly miss consumer rights in Pakistan...
Ab to har ghar say Bhutto niklay ga!
Good move. I am sure the owners are lying. These illiterate owned food joints need to be closed. Personally, I used to love Benazir Kulfa, but now their quality and cleanliness are down the drain!
Even though it tasted and smelled bad they ate? Maal-e-Muft, dil-e-berehem. Mufta zindabad
@Z: Do you own this shop or similar. I hope the groom has kept some proof
Z: This is consumer rights, we really need this to fix things up. Do not be ignorant and get a life, al the news have their own space btw welcome to digital world, space is not much of an issue here.
It's good to see that consumers in Punjab have a legal option to protect themselves. Where are the consumers laws in Sindh?
this is such a waste of space..
