SIALKOT:

“Religion and politics both require faith and sincerity,” Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Khwaja Muhammad Asif said on Sunday.

He was addressing a meeting of some party workers in his constituency in Kakiwali village.

He said that every citizen needed to play his role for the stability, security and development of Pakistan. They must rise above individual and group interest in the coming elections for the prosperity of the next generations, he said.

He said, “They need to use their right to vote to elect a government that is a true representative of the people.”

Former MPA Chaudhry Muhammad Ikhlaq, provincial assembly candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Akram and Member of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Muhammad Ishaaq were also present.

Asif said the federal government had failed to protect and serve the people well. He said all the rulers had given the people in return of their votes was load shedding, terrorism and price hike.

“If the people make the mistake of electing the same people again, the country will suffer past repair.”

He said the people of Karachi had already lost control of their city.

“When people are not careful with their votes, leaders like Asif Ali Zardari, Pervaiz Raja and Yusuf Raza Gillani get elected,” he said.

He said he could never imagine surviving in politics without the Sharif Brothers. He also appealed the people to vote for a PML-N candidate in December 4 elections. He said people’s votes would decide whether they want a selfless ruler or a corrupt one.

Former MPA Chaudhry Ikhlaq said that he believed in the people of Kakiwala village. He said in 1970, when the rest of the country had voted for the Pakistan People’s Party, people of Kakiwala had voted for the PML-N. He urged the people to take interest in elections and use their vote.
