Zardari became the first ever elected president to have addressed a provincial assembly session on the invitation of the provincial chief minister and speaker of the assembly. The speaker had invited the president to address the assembly during the SAARC conference in Islamabad.
Upon arrival, the president was received by K-P Governor Barrister Masood Kausar and Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti.
Addressing the session, the president said that it was a huge example of maturity and patience of parliamentarians and politicians that the assembly had completed its five years.
Zardari emphasised on the need of defeating the extremist mindset in order to save Pakistan, while condemning the attack on former Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad which took place earlier during the day in Mohmand.
He expressed happiness over visiting Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and thanked the provincial chief minister for inviting him.

What do you want us to do with this historic event when people cant even have 1 meal a day? Today, this kind of Bhuttoism and Democracy r no use to the poor.
Pity the agency who put up this news. Is this a performance KPI of a President? That he delivers a speech to an assembly? This man and his entire PPP do not have a single school or a village which can become the benchmark of how a school or village should be. Lets not talk about the billions lost; all I ask, if they have created a single school which can challenge, the grammars, or the city schools or the beaconhouses of the country. In fact not just the PPP, I will ask PML, ANP, MQM, all the political parties if they have a single school to their credit which can serve as a model. We have had 2 prime ministers from Larkana; does Larkana have a single school which can serve as a model? I believe not
Zaradari reminds one of Mayawati in playing race , language and ethnic / caste politics .
Playing Sariki card with Gilani and renaming a perfectly neutral NWFP to KPK are cheap tricks - and Pakistanis can see through it .
A desperate move by incomptent & corrupt PPP.
Such is the democracy in this country that a person like Zardari is the head of an elected government.
instead of badmouthing zardari pay heed to his message as it made lots of sense. Extremism has seeped through all walks of life in Pakistan. There are Taliban sympathizers EVERYWHERE. Extremist mindset must be defeated to save Pakistan.
Well Done, keep it up. Although it is only symbolic but good for democracy.
...and what an acheivement! wake me up if he has done anything to help the poor masses! While stashing all the development funds and kickbags, they deliver only lip service to people! Acheivement they say are 1) NWFP is now called KP! this may be right step, what has changed in lives of people there? 2) first president to address a provincial assembly... another achieveent!
When will you guys some real work with or withou speaking! I mean apart from corruption!
Only think PPP knows is to survive. They don't care to solve any problems whatsoever.
So what if he is the first to address the PKP assembly. It does not make any differance to the people of Pakistan.
The way news of Zardari's address to KPK assembly are being broadcast, bears a negative impression. The reader of the news, sort of feels that Zardari is the president of some foreign country and has graciously accepted to give a lecture to our assenbly of the elite.I think that instead of breaking the said news with flying colours we should be ashamed that a president of our own country had to take SO LONG to honour the elected assembly of KHYBER.All the credit goes to Zardari because if what he did today was done long before by some president of the past we won't be seeing all the unrest and physical and material loss in the north-west that we are bearing with a very heavy cost.I wonder why this blessing kept itself in disguise for such long
wish PPP had addressed the problems being faced by the people too!
@ullo: This is an honour for democracy....
BIG DEAL........
So what.....?
Congratulations, atleast the record has been broken by President Zardari.
