Baitul maal: NGOs’ grant reduced up to 33%

The sources says 15 per cent of the DBMCs’ budget has been distributed among NGOs.

FAISALABAD: The Punjab government has decided to cut the Baitul Maal grant of non governmental organisations by up to 33 per cent.

According to AG Office sources, a direction has been issued to withhold one third of the grants of NGOs registered with District Baitul Maal Committees (DBMCs).

The sources said there were Rs6 million in the account of the Faisalabad DBMC. Of that amount, Rs2 million would be withheld and distributed directly among the poor by the DBMCs. The sources said 15 per cent of the DBMCs’ budget had been distributed among NGOs.
