Ismatullah Khan Niazi, who broke down during the press conference, said that he had “committed a lot of sins” and “made a lot of money” during his stint as a Punjab Police official.
Niazi said he was ready to be persecuted and punished for his crimes.
He asked the govt to seize all of his wealth and to distribute it among the poor.
When asked what had motivated him to confess, the retired police official said he had been betrayed by his wife and family but did not elaborate.
Niazi advised police officials and officers not to accept bribes or do anything illegal. “Otherwise you will end up like me,” he said.

@Asif: what about the lives he took, if he shouldn't be charge of guilty then proud to be Pakistani as always. I wouldn't mind doing the same things as him to increase wealth earlier and later confessing to get sympathies from all you idots
We should hope that other police officer will get lesson from it and also he must disclose who were ordering him to do so....Bhutto was hanged cos he ordered killing of NAWAB AHMED KHAN...true or false its not matter here but ordering such killing is also punishable and this guy can bring the names of those who asked him to do so...
@safi:
Thanks Sir, for your attention.
I wonder why on earth did you bother with my "aimless words" which are "totally irrelevant" when you are a “patriotic” "pakistani" who "dont like to make line on bus stop" likely to end up with "Sorry for all my word". Was it because you "always put responsibility on others"? Or were you practicing English writing after getting a good thrashing from your Fifth Class teacher?
What ever it is, please do not worry. I love enterprising young boys like you who are following the TTP of IK. Best of luck to you.
True repentance is followed by accepting the lawful punishment for the crimes. In this case it is Capital Punishment. Repenting your sins on TV or in the news does not absolve you of your sins.

It is not possible without departmental concents, it is not one person doings. I am sure there are many involved in this. This could be result of some sort of understanding at high level. This affair should be thoroughly investigated and every one should be exposed. Otherwise there will be no fear of justice and it will keep on happening.
A lesson for greedy ladies also who can't feel satisfied in income of their husbands.
@wonderer: The premise set by your aimless words with regard to this article is totally irrelevant.we being "patriotic" pakistani always put responsibility on others but dont like to make line on bus stop...amazing...on simple article ,you turned subject to our typical chastising tone. Sorry for all my word
An eye opener for the masses of the Punjab. SC or HC will not take suo moto now.
"He asked the govt to seize all of his wealth and to distribute it among the poor. When asked what had motivated him to confess, the retired police official said he had been betrayed by his wife and family but did not elaborate"
He did it for his family who betrayed him. Now he wants his family to suffer and wants to go all the way. It is possible his family knew a lot and tried to blackmail him.
why ask and expect politicians to start repenting. Why not start form ourselves and ask if we are worthy of having these so called-democratic-peace-lover-dynastic-political-forces or not. lets start scrutinizing our own actions and analyze our mistakes and decide not to repeat them....
And those extra-judicial killings were done on the behalf of who? The Emperor of Lahore?
Despite the inhumane deeds you did (for which you must be prosecuted), i salute you for your courage and repentance. All i can do is pray for your and ours' forgiveness from Allah.
I want these words to get imprinted on the hearts of every Pakistani, not just Police Officers.
Niazi advised police officials and officers not to accept bribes or do anything illegal. “Otherwise you will end up like me,” he said.
The real man from inside Ismatullah Khan Niazi's heart came out to speak the truth.
Unfortunately, In Pakistan majority of the people believe that 'money' is every thing for them.
They can purchase any thing if they have money, but people do not realize the fact that they came in this world with empty hands and will also have to go back to meet their Creator with empty hands.
The wealth and properties which they make through illegally accumulated money remain on the ground whereas people who run after money are laid to rest for ever without the wealth and properties they had made.
I have never see any grave of a rich and mighty man in which air-conditioner is installed and works to save dead from the hot weather.
Those who disobey the orders of Al-Mighty Allah will always remain the losers.
And the people who are afraid from Al-Mighty Allah will never commit a single sin.
This is the reality of life, which one only realize after the death.
Now Ismatullah Khan Niazi should be treated according to the laws made by Al-Mighty Allah and not the laws that are being made by the men.
It should read that he's ready to be "prosecuted" not "persecuted".
how can you be forgiven when you killed 25 people unlawfully?
Confession is good. But the forgiveness would be from Allah SWT and the people who got affected due to his crimes. Same goes for our leaders as well.
Wonder whether or not they have any belief on the day of judgement or not???
Everybody can seek repentance and forgiveness, God is merciful.
it is not too late, all those who have done traitor y with this nation including bureaucrats/politicians/judges/generals come forward and speak truth now before their death because GOD will not excuse them.
Well am impressed
This is most welcome; for Pakistan and all Pakistani citizens. This disclosure of truth will ultimately result in better Rule of Law for all. As they say, truth can never be hidden for ever; it has a way of emerging from unexpected events and individuals. In another such incident, Geo News anchor Kamran Khan, in his November 12, 2012 programme, revealed that Pakistani officials had told Antiterrorism Court Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman on November 10, 2012 that terrorists who attacked and killed over 166 innocent people in Mumbai on November 26, 2008, belonged to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and that they had trained in various cities of Pakistan. The mastermind of this attack, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, is under trial at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. It may seem to a large number of people that such disclosures bring bad name for our nation. But deeper thought would reveal that truth always pleases Allah, and He will shower his blessings on the whole nation if we give up falsehood completely. Those who have been governing us for 65 years, civilian or military, have systematically fed us on lies. We have been taught wrong history, have been told lies about the wars our nation fought, false information about East Pakistan, and our mischief making in Kashmir. The truth about Baluchistan and violence in Karachi is also kept away from us. We are now trying to become a democratic country, and democracy cannot flourish if the public is ignorant. We must know the truth about everything our nation has been involved in, because only then we will enjoy respect in the comity of nations; at present, we have very bad reputation. If the public is kept ignorant, they cannot vote wisely, thus getting the wrong kind of government.
It is said that one must learn from one’s mistakes, but if we do not even know our mistakes how can we learn from them. We will make the same mistakes again and again. We must get united and demand the TRUTH from our government.
those who saying "better late than never", guess it won't apply to 25 people he killed for they will never return
It requires guts, courage to profess your sins..May God bless you
Shouldn't he be hanged to death after the confessions?
This man be praised. In a society where nobody admit his wrong doing this man has shown a bit humanity.
At least someone is repenting. When will our politicians get to this stage ?
That's quite incredible.
How cruel... What made you confess your crimes..
"When asked what had motivated him to confess, the retired police official said he had been betrayed by his wife and family but did not elaborate." That... Sort of puts a damper on his probably reasoning. Even though he didn't elaborate, it's not all that hard to guess.
The fact this was his reaction to it... He did something that would compel his wife and family to turn him in for those crimes. So he probably made a preemptive move to soften the blow. If you talk behind a person's back and the person you spoke to betrays you by telling that other person, you aren't going to react by confessing something completely unrelated to it that will probably have an outcome that's 100x worse.
A lesson for our leaders. Atleast this guy has the courage to except his short comings.
Call me cynic but how long before some relationship between this guy and IK is shown and IK gets hammered for that?
better late then never
well..better late than never!
