About 35 PhD students at the English language and literature department at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) will go to an American university for research, said a press release on Friday.

Professor Masood Ashraf Raja of the University of North Texas (UNT) visited NUML on Friday and met Rector Masood Hasan and Director General (DG) Azam Jamal to finalise the partnership programme.

He said that the “objectives of this partnership programme will be to initiate faculty development programmes, curriculum development programmes and facilitate the research outputs of the university”.

In the second phase of the partnership programme, other students of PhD and MPhil programmes will also visit UNT to research.

The first activity under this programme will be “Two Curriculum Development Workshops” for the faculty members of main campus of NUML and its regional campuses. Thereafter, a group of faculty members will visit UNT in October 2013.

DG Jamal said the collaboration “is a very unique opportunity for our faculty members and students of PhD and MPhils in English to bring their academic and professional skills at par with international standards.”
