Two Punjab Police barbers inducted in the Elite Force were shot dead on Friday by a colleague inside the Elite Force Training School at Bedian.
Cantt Division (Operations) Superintendent of Police (SP) Maroof Wahla told The Express Tribune that the incident took place between 3pm and 3:30pm in a barber shop located inside the Elite Police Training School.
He said one of the barbers Naseer appeared to have opened fire after exchanging harsh words with two of his colleagues, Amjad and Abdul Hameed, who died a the spot. He said all three were Punjab Police employees and had been inducted in Elite Force in 1999.
Wahla said the suspect had carried a pistol with him. He said Naseer had told police that the two deceased were “black magicians” and were using black magic against him.
Speaking to media at the Barki police station lockup, Naseer said, “Some days ago the two men had given me some food as niaz from a khatam. I started vomiting and fell unconscious after eating it.” “I decided to kill them after offering Friday prayers,” he said.
Police said the suspect was immediately arrested and the assault weapon was recovered.
The suspect has six children and is a resident of Sialkot . The deceased Abdul Hameed has four children and is a resident of Rawalpindi while the deceased Amjad has five children and is a resident of Bahawalpur.
Barki Station House Officer (SHO) Main Liaqat told The Express Tribune the bodies of the deceased had been sent to the mortuary for autopsy.
