A total of 128,371 candidates had registered for the exams. According to statistics provided by controller of examinations Noman Ahsan, 78.1% of the students cleared all the five papers. Another 14,613 candidates cleared four papers. The breakdown further revealed that 82% of girls, (46,540 candidates) and 75% of boys (52,643 candidates) passed.
Although BSEK does not bar students to sit in Matric exams even if they fail all class IX papers, most schools do not promote students if they fail in more than two subjects.
