South Waziristan: Five militants killed, six injured

Dozens of militant hideouts, compounds destroyed and weapons seized.

Security forces launched a search operation against the Mufti Mir Wali Khan group of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.


The operation was launched in the Sanzala, Ziaratzai and Tiarza tehsil of Sarwakai sub-division, South Waziristan Agency on Wednesday morning, a security official told The Express Tribune.

Dozens of militant hideouts and compounds were destroyed and weapons recovered were seized.

Two hideouts were also uncovered in Tiarza and a militant identified as Janan was apprehended, the official added.

He said that five militants were killed and six were injured in the offensive.

South Waziristan political administration had earlier asked residents to vacate the area for a military operation.

All routes on the Gomal Zam road, linking Wana to Dera Ismail Khan, were blocked and telephone networks were dysfunctional till late evening.
