Road accidents in Punjab claim 8 lives

Twelve people sustain injuries in accidents near Gujranwala and Bahalwapur.

Five people were killed and nine sustained injuries in a collision between a passenger coach and a wagon near Bahawalpur on Wednesday, Express News reported.

According to the police, the accident took place near Nurpur Pali in the early hours of Wednesday, when the coach was on its way from Ahmedpur to Yazman.

The coach was speeding and due to dense fog on the road, the driver could not see the wagon and rammed into it.

All five people who died in the accident were reported to belong to the same family. They were identified as Nazar Muhammad, Naimat, Sughri, Zafran Bibi and an infant named Faizan.

Rescue teams present on the accident site shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

In a separate incident, three students died while another three sustained injuries when the wagon they were in collided with a trolley near Gujranwala, due to low visibility caused by fog.

The students were identified as 18-year-olds Huma and Abeera and 17-year-old Rimsha.

The wagon was on its way from Warpal Chatta to Gujranwala when it collided with the trolley near Rasool Gondlanwala.

The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital by rescue team and the heirs were informed about the accident.
