Police and Rangers have been authorised to take “indiscriminate action” against culprits to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, said Sindh Assembly speaker Nisar Khuhro.
He was talking to media personnel after meeting High Commission of Canada to Pakistan, Greg Giokas, on Monday. He added that law enforcers who were not doing their jobs will have to leave, and that the entire province could be rid of weapons if all political parties agreed.
While taking a swipe at the Pakistan Peoples Party’s chief rival, Khuhro said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz “should not dream about coming into power through the back door.” Nawaz Sharif had been exposed after the apex court gave its verdict in the Asghar Khan case, and demanded that the Sharif brothers be disqualified from contesting future elections. Khuhro was hopeful that the general elections would take place after March 2013.
