
Pakistani deaf teams outshone their Indian opponents to win the cricket, table tennis, badminton and chess titles of the Deaf Dosti Cup of the Punjab international sports festival yesterday.
Pakistani cricketers outplayed India by 29 runs in the last match to make a clean sweep in a three-match series at the Iqbal Park Sports Complex ground. After the match was reduced to 12-overs-a side, Pakistan posted 124 for two thanks to a brilliant batting display by Kashif (43) and Shafqat (42). In reply, India fell short of the target.
In the table tennis event, Pakistan crushed India 3-0 while the national side dominated in badminton as well, overcoming the rivals 2-1. A similar result was witnessed in the chess event, with Pakistan claiming the title with a 2-1 win. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s 15-0 victory over Nepal in baseball added more laurels for the country.
