ISLAMABAD: A board comprising experts of disaster management, rehabilitation and reconstruction has been constituted to chalk out a comprehensive game plan for the systematic rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood hit areas, said Imran Khan, Chairman, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre.

While addressing the business community at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he informed that the game plan will be announced next week, a press release issued here said on Friday.

He said the scale of flood catastrophe is so huge that the government alone could not handle it and all have to play a part to wriggle out of this natural calamity. After the identification of the areas, Pakistanis that are overseas, the business community and others will be invited to participate in reconstruction work.

He termed the overseas Pakistanis as the biggest asset of the country who have the resources and potential to help Pakistan come out of current crisis. He said expatriate Pakistanis are eager to help the flood victims, but they need a credible source for channeling their donations in cash and kind.

To a question, he said that the current tax ratio was unviable for the country and underscored the need of developing a fair taxation system to promote a proper tax culture.
