LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court has disposed of petitions against the Young Doctors Association (YDA) after the government and doctors’ associations reached a service structure accord.

Representatives of the government and the YDA told the court on Thursday morning that an agreement to end the doctors’ protests had been signed on Wednesday evening. The YDA representative said that the doctors had agreed as part of the deal to never go on strike again.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan was hearing a government plea for a stay order on a sit-in at the CM’s Secretariat planned by the YDA, and another petition seeking the cancellation of the licences of doctors who participated in strikes. Arguing in favour of the latter plea, Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique said that these doctors had violated their oath. The judge observed that the doctors had pledged not to go on strike again and their concerns had been addressed.
