HAFIZABAD:

A woman was beaten and her legs and an arm broken allegedly by her husband following an argument over money.

Police said Shahid Imran, a resident of the Kaleke area, had been unemployed for a few months.

They said he often quarrelled with his wife, Farzana Bibi, over household expenses.

On Thursday, they again had an argument and Imran locked her in a room and beat her with an iron rod.

Some neighbours, who entered the house on hearing her shouts for help, found her lying in a pool of blood. She was taken to the district headquarters hospital, where doctors said her legs and an arm were broken. She also has injuries to her head.

Her in-laws later told police that Farzana Bibi had fallen from the stairs. Farzana Bibi’s parents rejected the claim and said that Imran often beat their daughter up. Imran has been missing since the incident.
