KARACHI:

Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Memon, said that the bomb attack at the Sachal Rangers Complex was a result of local terrorist groups playing into the hands of international forces and bent on tarnishing the image of Pakistan.

“The attack may be a reaction to the targeted operations conducted by the police and law enforcement agencies against suspects,” said Memon. He added that this recent attack could also be a ploy to discourage investors and delegates, who have come from around the world, to participate in the on going IDEAS 2012 exhibition. He told the media that he suspected that this attack, bomb blasts and other criminal activities are part of a conspiracy being hatched against the country.

Memon said that no government would allow the law and order situation to destabilise and dispelled the impression that the Rangers or the police were inept. “Only a handful of criminals tend to subvert the writ of government, but we will tackle them with the iron hands of the state.”

He added that the police and Rangers have done an excellent job in arresting high-profile criminals operating in Karachi.
