Democracy: EU launches Rs5.6b programme to support parliament

The programme will tap into the potential of Pakistan’s young graduates.

The European Union (EU) launched its first parliamentary cooperation programme to support Pakistan’s parliament on Wednesday.


The €4.75 million (Rs5.6 billion) programme, “Improving Parliamentary Performance”, aims to assist the National Assembly and Senate to discharge their core parliamentary functions efficiently, said an official handout.

The programme stresses on the work and performance of parliamentary committees, and will also facilitate improved links between the Pakistani and European parliaments.

The programme will tap into the potential of Pakistan’s young graduates.
