KARACHI:

The ruling Pakistan Peoples Party government called off the reward money announced for members of the defunct Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) on Wednesday.

PAC leader Zafar Baloch, who had Rs0.5 million bounty placed on his head, was among the 11 people who were facing charges of murder, kidnapping for ransom, police encounters and other cases. Most of the cases were registered soon after police conducted the Lyari operation in April.

The bounty, however, was not called off for Uzair Baloch, the award for whom is Rs3 million.

“Government has assured us that another notification will be issued to call off the bounty placed on Uzair Baloch, Habib Jan and Habib Hassan,” said Zafar Baloch while speaking to The Express Tribune.
