Lahore police donates Rs10m

LAHORE: Lahore Police has donated Rs10 million for flood victims.

Thirty-three trucks were dispatched to areas in the districts of DG Khan, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur from Traffic Wardens Line, LOS Thokar Niaz Baig by the CCPO, Aslam Tareen.

The CCPO, while addressing police officials on the occasion, said that the collected amount was well above two day’s salary, which the Punjab government had announced. He said that all officials had contributed generously. The CCPO donated Rs20,000, DIGs Rs10,000, SSPs Rs8,000 each, SPs Rs6,000 each, DSPs Rs4,000 each, Inspectors Rs1,500 each, Wardens/SIs Rs1,000 each, ASIs Rs500 each, head constables Rs300 each whereas constables had donated Rs200 each.

According to the CCPO, cash donations had also been received from the police officers on a UN mission in Sudan. Relief goods had been donated to the police’s fund for victims by LCCI and several traders as well as mill owners.

Tareen added that Lahore Police would establish relief camps throughout the city where the public could donate things for flood victims. The camps will be set up in Allama Iqbal Town, Moon Market, City, Azadi Chowk, Cantt, Saddar Roundabout, Model Town, Liberty Market Parking Area, Civil Lines, China Chowk, Thokar Niaz Baig, Jail Road and Qila Gujjar Singh among others.
