Criminal negligence: Court calls witnesses in murder trial of eight YDA doctors

"The doctors had provided some videos and documents which were being examined", says police.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Nisar Ahmed on Monday summoned eyewitnesses in a murder trial for November 15 and directed the investigation officer to complete investigations till the next date in pre-arrest bails of eight striking doctors who allegedly removed the drip from an infant causing his death.


Petitioners Dr Usman, Dr Suleman, Dr Adil, Dr Assad, Dr Hannan, Dr Usmanul Haq and Dr Tajammul said that they were implicated in a false case to humiliate them. They said the child, Fahd, died at the Mayo Hospital’s Emergency Ward while none of them was present there.

The police submitted the interim challan before the court.

An officer said the doctors had provided some videos and documents which were being examined. He said they had not found any evidence against Dr Adil.

According to an FIR registered by Muhammad Afzal, father of 18-month-old Fahd, in Gowalmandi police station under Sections 302, 427, 148, 149 of PPC, his son died after treating his son removed his drip and let him die to join a strike called by the Young Doctors Association.

He said that his son was already in a critical condition.
