LAHORE:

A consumer court on Monday directed a curtain business to pay Rs75,000 damages to a dissatisfied client and fined him Rs20,000.

Afshan Tariq said City Interiors had last year pledged to fit curtains in three rooms at her house in time for an egagement function, but had failed to do so. She said she had paid Rs50,000 in advance out of the Rs85,000 order and CI proprietor Ehtasham Ghani and manager Fahd Sheikh had promised to fix the curtains within a week. She said she had to rent a hall for her daughter’s engagement.

Ghani said he had provided the bedroom curtains on time and was willing to deliver the rest but the complainant had refused to accept them.

The judge directed Ghani to return the Rs50,000 advance and pay the petitioner damages and the cost of litigation (Rs25,000). The judge also fined Ghani Rs20,000, which is to be deposited in the state treasury.
