Some residents of Muradpur handed over two women to the police on Monday.
They said the women had tried to deprive them of their gold jewellery by claiming that they could double the amount of golf presented before them.
Muradpur police said that the suspects, Rani and Mona, had entered Ali Akbar’s home in Nishat Park in his absence.
They gathered the women in the family and told them they could double any amount of gold jewellery given to them. Tricked into believing their claim, police said, the women brought all the gold jewellery and gave it to them.
They said the women managed to flee with gold worth Rs1.1 million. Police said the women of the household, however, chased them in a rickshaw and caught them on Kashmir Road. The gold was recovered and the women were handed over to the police.
