Preparing for Muharram: Security to be tightened

IGP issues orders that security in the city should be intensified but residents are not to be harassed.

KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department and the Special Branch will work together to collect information about people living along routes that will be taken by the Muharram processions, said the inspector general of police, Fayyaz Ahmed Laghari. This was done to ensure peace in the city during the holy month. The IGP has issued orders that security in the city should be intensified but residents are not to be harassed during the process of collecting information. He also directed police officials to patrol industrial and commercial centres so that street crimes could be controlled.
