In a statement issued on Friday, TTP spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan said that the decision has been taken to set the people of Karachi free from the clutches of “these persecutors”.
Furthermore, Ehsan called on the leaders of all nationalist parties, including the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Sindh Liberation Army, to struggle for their rights in “an Islamic way”.
“Islam protects everyone’s right and you (nationalist parties) are passing through dark ages of oppression and this shackle of suppression has to be broken down,” the statement read.
Earlier, MQM had announced that it would hold a referendum throughout Pakistan, urging people to vote on whether they want to live in a Pakistan run by the Taliban, or the one envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam.
“We want a Pakistan that does not discriminate based on religion but one envisioned by the Quaid-e-Azam. The referendum will go ahead next week,” said MQM leader Faisal Subzwari. However, he declined to comment specifically on the TTP threat aimed at the party.

Only MQM is fighting for the rights of poor people of Pakistan. Altaf bhai pointed out this issue @talibanization in Karachi about 4 years ago but at that time no body listened even people made fun of this, now everyone is realizing & admitting & seeing practically that Altaf Bhai was right. Further MQM IS THE BEIGHT FUTURE OF PAKISTAN. MQM has the reward that it's senetors, ministers & other superiors are not relatives of its leadership whereas all other parties in Pakistan always give the ministries & tickets to the relatives of the leadership/Chiefs.
What a dilemma, one terrorist organization (TTP) against another terrorist organization (MQM). May God protect the innocent people...
Kudos to MQM for standing up to the TTP killers. With the exception of ANP, MQM and PPP leaders, the rest of the political leadership in Pakistan has failed to rise to the occasion. PTI, PML (N) and JUI (F) are in fact being opportunistic here by exploiting anti-American sentiments in Pakistan and failing to condemn the TTP's murderous attacks on innocent Muslims in the name of Islam.

Gia Altaf Hussain bhai!
Admire MQM's bold stand. I am sure Army shall support MQM and the days of Taliban are numbered.
Politically and ideologically I differ with MQM since I was a “Punjabi” student in Karachi in mid 80’s but lately I have developed a respect for Altaf Hussain for his unambiguous and clear stand on many sensitive issues. He may not be a perfect leader but no other politician has guts to be vocal against the religious hysteria our society is suffering from. Talbans are openly using and abusing Islam for their vested interest. Quran and the life of Holy Prophet Mohammad (SAW) do not correlate with the actions of Talbans. Sadly, apologetic and hypocrite attitude of most of the religious and secular parties toward Talban has not only fueled their activities but also confused the common people. Unfortunately, people of Pakistan are so ignorant that they still think that it will be against Islam to wipeout Talban and their loyalist.
I'm voting MQM after this.
This will be a fight to end all fights!
If 99% of the population, along with the army, really hated the Taliban, then there would be no reason to take such a threat seriously. If under 1% of a population can have such an effect on a country, every country in the world would be run by extremists of some kind.
Karachi is not Swat. There will be a brutal civil war if the Taliban try to intervene. Outside forces could also get sucked into all this.
Threat From TTP Is Actually The Success Of MQM's Bold Stance Over Terrorism In The Name of Islam
Pakistan Zindabad MQM Zindabad
Taliban Murdabad TTP Murdabad Long Live Altaf Hussain Bhai & Pakistan
You mullahs wont be able to do anything !!
