LAHORE:

Lahore High Court Justice Ayesha A Malik on Friday sought a reply from the district coordination officer by November 7 on a petition challenging the demolition of the historical building Lakshmi Mansion situated between Beadon Road and Hall Road.

Advocate Arif Karim had filed the petition and contended that the city district government had decided to preserve Lakshmi Mansion and many other buildings in the city having historical values under the project Dilkash Lahore.

Advocate Arif Karim said the city district government had already demolished a portion of the Lakshmi Mansion in the name of commercialisation and later planned to demolish it completely.

Advocate Arif Karim said the historical buildings were a national heritage and the government was bound to preserve them in their original condition. The hearing was adjourned after initial arguments.
