KARACHI: The court summoned secretary of the excise and taxation department, Karachi traffic DIG and Inspector Motor Vehicles while taking notice of unregistered and unfit public and private vehicles plying on city roads without any check.

The bench noted that 80 to 90 per cent “unfit” public buses were running which didn’t even have lights but the authorities concerned have failed to take action against them.

Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany questioned why vehicles with ‘Applied for Registration’ were operating despite the criteria laid down by the Sindh High Court when it took suo motu notice of the issue some time back.
