Eid Stock: Bottles of liquor, weapons seized

The police also arrested a man who was carrying 75 grams of marijuana.

BAHAWALPUR: Bahawalpur District Police claimed on Wednesday to have recovered 700 bottles of liquor that bootleggers had stocked for sale during the three-day Eid holidays. Kotwali Police said it had arrested the eight people who had stocked the alcohol. About 135 bottles of liquor were seized from one Muhammad Kamran, 160 from Malik Shoaib, three from Muhammad Imran, eight from Shafaqat, 75 from Rafaqat Ali, 85 from Patras Masih. Masih also had 50 litres of local liquor stored in drums, police said. Other local liquor dealers that were arrested included Muhammad Waqar, from whom 25 litres was recovered and Muhammad Ismail, who had 30 litres of local liquor stored in drums. Abbas Nagar police station duty officer said they had arrested six men who had been carrying unlicensed weapons. The weapons were also seized. They include a 30-bore pistol, two revolvers and three 12-bore guns. The police also arrested a man who was carrying 75 grams of marijuana.
