LALAMUSA:

Pakistanis are playing an active role in the local politics of Norway, Erna Salberg said on Tuesday. Salberg, who belongs to the Conservative Party of Norway, is also the head of opposition.

Salberg was talking to the media after a luncheon meeting hosted in her honour and the Norwegian envoy to Pakistan Cecillie Landsverk by the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira at his home in Lalamusa.

Salberg said Pakistanis are playing an important role in the development and progress of Norway. Giving an example of assimilation in the community, she said a Pakistani is playing in the national football team of Norway.

She added Norway has softened its immigration laws to allow foreign workers to bring their families with them.

Salberg said the misconceptions about Pakistan are fading away. After the Swat operation, the whole world has accepted Pakistan’s sincerity in fighting terrorists.
