MULTAN:

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) does not have the courage to opposition, said former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani on Monday.

Talking to reporters, he said the Sharif brothers could not survive the criticism they had to after Supreme Court of Pakistan verdict in the Asghar Khan case.

He said it to the Pakistan People’s Party’s credit leadership that they accepted the court verdict in my case immediately.

“But today nobody is willing to obey the Supreme Court of Pakistan,” he said.

He said if the decision in the Asghar Khan case was not implemented, there would be no need for an independent judiciary in Pakistan.

He said billions of rupees had been doled out just to deprive the PPP of opportunities to represent the people in every election, not just in 1990.

He said that if right decisions had been taken at the right time, the confusion that existed today would not. He said a decision to launch military operations in North Waziristan would be taken by “the real leadership of Pakistan”.

But, he said, military operations were not a solution to any problem.

He said all political indications about the next general elections were based on personal biases because elections would be held on time depite conspiracies.

He said elections would be held even if a military operation was under way in any part of the country.

“We will ensure the most transparent elections in the history of Pakistan,” he said.
