BAHAWALPUR: Quaid-i-Azam Medical College (QMC) students, who have been protesting against the college principal, allowed the college to be opened on Wednesday. While talking to the media, the students said that they had been assured by the government that it would ensure justice.

They said that they would continue protesting peacefully until the removal of the college principal. The students held the principal, Ejaz Shah, responsible for the baton charge by the police and for implicating their fellows in terrorism cases.

They said that Shah was threatening their parents over the phone, adding that he closed down the mess and canteen during Ramazan to pressurise them into giving up their demands. The students said that they had protested in a peaceful and democratic manner but the principal had turned it ugly.

They also threatened with a Punjab-wide protest if the principal is not suspended by Eid. Meanwhile, Shah said that he would try his best to resolve the students’ issues on a priority basis.
