SWAT: A neurosurgeon along with his driver was kidnapped near Bilal Masjid on Mardan-Swabi Road on Thursday.

A police official in Kalu Khan told The Express Tribune that Dr Abdul Aziz was on his way to the hospital around 5pm when the incident occurred.

Dr Aziz is a senior surgeon at the District Headquarters Hospital Abbottabad and also runs his private clinic in the village, the official said. He had just visited his patients at the clinic and was going back to the hospital, police said.

An FIR could not be registered because the area is beyond the jurisdiction of the Kalu Khan police and falls in the Mardan district, he said.

A Mardan police official acknowledged that the surgeon and his driver have been kidnapped and a car was found abandoned near Bilal Masjid. He said that the surgeon could have been kidnapped for ransom.
