Cruelty: Child’s skull fractured after aunt beat him for ‘asking for money’

GUJRANWALA:

A three-year-old was beaten up by his aunt on Friday for asking her for money. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors treating him said he had suffered a skull fracture.

Nazia Bibi, the boy’s mother, told The Express Tribune that a few days ago, her sister-in-law Sidra had taken her son to her house so she could spend a few days with her.

She said when she went to bring him back on Friday, she found that Sidra had beaten him up with a rod for asking her for Rs5.

She said her son’s eyes were swollen and his head injured. She took the boy to the Civil Hospital, where doctors treating him said that his skull had been fractured. Dr Ehtisham told The Express Tribune the child had received injuries on the head and the back.

The boy’s grandmother later told The Express Tribune that they did not want to file a complaint. She said Sidra was Noor’s aunt and had done nothing wrong by beating him up. “He is her blood,” she said.

Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate Shafqat Shahbaz Darja sent a man to jail on a 14-day remand for beating to death his 10-year-old son for smoking a cigarette on Tuesday.

The accused, Nasir, was arrested on Wednesday after he beat up his only son with an iron rod. Ferozwala police said they had also recovered the rod used to beat the boy. They had produced Nasir before the court on Friday and sought a judicial remand.

The hearing has been adjourned indefinitely.
