LAHORE:

A contempt petition has been filed in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry against Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and others for failing to implement the court’s order pertaining to the appointment of a vice chancellor at the University of Health Sciences (UHS).

Prof Naseer Chaudhry, through Advocate Shamimur Rehman Malik, submitted that on March 14, a three-member bench directed the Punjab government to fill the vice chancellor’s seat at the UHS within three months. But the government had made no efforts to appoint the vice chancellor in that period, he said. He asked the court to initiate contempt proceeding against the chief minister, the chief secretary, and the secretaries of the Services and General Administration and Health Departments.
