Promises: ‘PPP will form government in Punjab’

LAHORE: Manzoor Wattoo, the newly-appointed PPP Punjab head, said on Tuesday that he would lead the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to forming a government in Punjab.  He was addressing a press conference at the Governor’s House after a meeting with party workers. He said the PPP would employ a seat adjustment formula with its ally, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), in the province. He said the PPP had been unable to form a government in the Punjab since 20 years. He said the divisional and district coordination committees have been issued instructions to start preparing for the next general election. He said he would meet each district president and would restore the status of local party workers. He said the PPP had complied with the courts and sacrificed a prime minister. He also said that after the Asghar Khan case judgment, Punjab was being ruled by a “convicted government.” He aid that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should resign.
