Future concern: FIA’s failure to arrest absconder irks LHC

The Lahore High Court on Monday served show cause notices on a Federal Investigation Agency director and an investigation team for failing to arrest the chief executive of a visa consultancy firm despite court directions in that regard.


Earlier, a law officer told the court that 47 fraud cases had been registered against Future Concern CEO Asim Malik. He said challans in 33 cases had been submitted. He said FIA teams had been conducting raids for Malik but had not found him.

The petitioners’ counsel FIA officials concerned should be punished for not complying with the court orders. Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi directed the FIA director and the investigation team to submit explanations for their failure. The judge adjourned the hearing till November 2.

The petitioners allege that they gave money to Malik to be sent abroad but Malik neither sent them abroad nor returned their money.
