Pakistan sets another record for world’s largest flag

Around 24,200 students formed a national flag holding coloured sheets over their heads.

LAHORE: Around 24,200 students in Punjab set a new record for Pakistan by making the largest human national flag during the Punjab Youth Festival on Monday, reported Express News.

A Guinness World Record official verified the record. Monday's record set in Lahore smashes a five-year-old record set in Hong Kong.

"It's amazing, amazing display of unity of 24,200 people here in Lahore tonight," Guinness World Records adjudicator Gareth Deaves told a cheering crowd.

"Every single one of you holds this record," he said, handing over the certificate to Punjab provincial government representative Hamza Shahbaz Sharif.

Another record of creating the largest human mosaic picture was also set on Monday.

On Sunday, Pakistan set a record for breaking the most number of records in one day.

A weekend of bizarre record attempts in Lahore began on Saturday night when 42,813 people in the National Hockey Stadium sang the national anthem together, smashing the previous best of 15,243 held by India.

On Sunday, Mohammad Mansha went flat out to set a new record for making chapatis (breads) – mixing, kneading, spinning and cooking three in three minutes and 14 seconds – while 12-year-old Mehek Gul took just 45 seconds to arrange the pieces on a chessboard using only one hand.
