Knock out Australian outfit in low-scoring game

Delhi Daredevils downed Perth Scorchers in a low-scoring match in Cape Town as they moved a step closer to the semi-finals of the Champions League Twenty20.

The IPL team chose to field, restricting the Scorchers to 121 for five. Man-of-the-match Ajit Ajarkar shone with the ball, dismissing Shaun Marsh (39) and Simon Katich (34) in consecutive overs. He later hit two boundaries and remained not out to propel his team past the target.

Delhi captain Mahela Jaywardene said that there were a few hitches but in the end he was pleased with his team.

“We made a few mistakes, which nearly cost us the game,” said Jayawardene. “But our bowlers and fielders did really well and won us the game.”
