The beheaded body was found bundled in a gunny bag and lying “halfway in the field and on an unpaved route,” said Billitang police official Hassan Khan.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Khan said that police reached the area at around 11:15 am after locals informed them about the body. “We took the body to the police station and then to Kohat Divisional Hospital for an autopsy,” he added. No identity card or any information that could help police in investigations was found on the body or sack.
A senior Kohat police official said that after the autopsy the body was handed over to the municipal committee members for burial. “We are going to bury it because I know no one will come to claim it,” he said, requesting not to be named. He added that the body was of a man between 30 to 35 years of age, adding that incidents like this had never occurred in Kohat before the Bannu jailbreak.
It is becoming increasingly common for locals to adopt militant tactics to attack their adversaries and try to pass the blame onto militants.
On October 1, another body was found in a similar manner. It was identified as Haji Akbar, a resident of Orakzai Agency, and was found near the Bypass Road on the outskirts of the city.
