September performance: 759 of 998 cases solved says Police

Police had recovered stolen vehicles, jewellery and cattle worth Rs4.15 million in 38 cases.

BAHAWALPUR: As many as 998 complaints were filed with the police in September, a statement issued by the district police on Thursday said. Of these, the suspects have been traced in 759 cases. It claimed that the police had arrested 1,423 men, including 306 proclaimed offenders and 33 court absconders. It said 28 men accused of murder, 21 of attempted murder, 95 of abduction and seven of rape were arrested in September. Three suspects of robbery, 51 of mugging, 27 of vehicle snatching, 103 of cattle theft were also arrested. It said 1,000 litres of liquor and illegal weapons were recovered from the suspects arrested. It said the police had recovered stolen vehicles, jewellery and cattle worth Rs4.15 million in 38 cases. A Kalashnikov rifle, six pistols, 16 shot guns, 92 revolvers and 16 carbines were also recovered.
