Crime control: 556 arrested in two weeks

Those arrested included 186 proclaimed offenders (48 A-category and 138 B-category) and 25 court absconders.

FAISALABAD: District police have arrested 556 criminals in the last two weeks, a statement released on Thursday claims. It said those arrested included 186 proclaimed offenders (48 A-category and 138 B-category) and 25 court absconders. It says that police also raided two distilleries and seized 33 kilogram hashish, 12.5 kg heroin, 178 grams opium and 1,496 bottles of liquor from there. As many as 157 men were arrested for carrying illegal weapons. Police said they had recovered 105 pistols (0.30 bore), seven revolvers, 31 guns, 10 rifles, four Kalashnikov rifles and 245 cartridges from those arrested.
