The moon was sighted in Lahore and Islamabad, whereas Peshawar’s Ruet-e-Hilal committee also announced celebrating Eid on the same day.
The announcement was made after six confirmations were received.
The Express News correspondent reported that the moon could clearly be sighted from the roof of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
A meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee in Karachi was being headed by Mufti Muneebur Rehman which included SPARCO, navy and Met department representatives.

@Reas: Saudi Arabia has a Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for moon-sighting and in a recent Ulema conference in Meccah, details of moon-sighting were discussed and agreed upon. Contact Mufti Taqi Usmani of Dar-ul-Uloom, Korangi for details Regards.
@Genius: Every country, rather every city, is responsible for moon-sighing, not just the Ruet-e-Hilal committee. Decision must be based on local moon sighting. Soon people may be able to live on the moon; then they will sight it 24/7. Regards.
@MukamilAhmad: Try also to pray all five prayers with Saudi Arabia, then we can discuss the matter in detail. Regards.
@MukamilAhmad
Sir, please read some islamic literature and you will know that New month is based on moon is specific to regions. SO one region can have a new moon and others don't. This is all according to sunnah. Its nothing unusual. Lets not create confusion in minds of people.
@Ammar: Because this moon has nothing to with fasting and taraweeh.
@the Skunk: In Karachi the moon was visible for about 30 minutes (could be sighted without spectacles).
@Khan007: take one hissah in ijtemai cow sacrifice. Regards.
Advanced Eid felicitations to my Pakistani brothers and sisters.
May this Eid-ul-Azha bring peace in Pakistan - beware of Australian sheep this Eid :p
The day of Eidulazha from Australia to the Americas is Friday Oct. 26, 2012 according to Zilhijj crescent seen in many countries of the world from Australia to the Americas. In Pakistan most unfortunately they have seen the moon of 2nd Zilhijj this evening. Ruyat Helaal Committee members will get the proof of their mistake on Nov. 6, 2012. That day in the morning they will see the moon of 21st day as the moon will be half or even slightly less than half. The Zilhijj crescent became visible on the evening of Tuesday Oct 16, 2012 when far East of New Zealand and Australia over the Pacific Ocean. Australia was the first place where it was seen about 30 hours before seen in Pakistan. Then it was seen in many countries all the way to Americas yesterday. The Shahahdut from many countries in the world is now available to see on http://www.moonsighting.com/1434zhj.html and http://www.icoproject.org/icop/hej33.html. Why do our respected Ruyat Helaal Committee members do not entertain the commands of Allah contained in the Shahahdut from other places located on our own planet Earth?
Hajj is on 25th and Eid-ul-Azha is day after. How come we are not celeberating Eid on 26th? Only logic is that we do not follow Saudi Arabian calendar. We celeberate according to Moon sighting of our own country. Same consideration should be given to Eid-ul-Fitr.
@Khan Australian Sheep
now some pathan brother please explain how moon was out of sync between Peshawar and rest of pakistan at Eid-ul-Fitar .... came back in-sync now ..
@Khan007: Dont buy the animal until Eid day.. You have 3 days to do the sacrifising of animals, keep your cool!!
For once, there has been no conflict of opinions. Thank goodness and advance Eid Mubarak to one and all. What telescope did Mufti Muneebur Rahman use? The Hubble, Chandra or did he fly on top of a Shaheen? Salams
May this Eid-ul-Azha bring peace and tranquility in Pakistan.
